Exhibition ‘Geography of Ghosts’

DE Die Ausstellung in der Wiener Ärztekammer teilte die künstlerische Forschung von GoG mit Ärzt:innen, einer wichtigen Adressatengruppe für die gesundheitlichen Anliegen von geflüchteten Menschen. Die Eröffnung fand im Rahmen der “Medical Diversity Days” statt, welche Fachvorträge zu Gesundheitsthemen anbot. PARABOL hat für die Ausstellung Broschüren erstellt, die das Projekt für Ärzt:innen zusammenfasst.

EN The exhibition at the Vienna Medical Chamber shared GoG’s artistic research with doctors, an important target group for the health concerns of refugees. The opening took place as part of the ‘Medical Diversity Days,’ which offered specialist lectures on health topics. PARABOL produced brochures for the exhibition, which summarised the project for doctors.

Exhibition ‘Geography of Ghosts’

DE Speziell für die Räumlichkeiten der Galerie konzipiert, entwickelte die Ausstellung den GoG Research weiter. Sie widmet sich der Sichtbarkeit und Unsichtbarkeit von Geflüchteten im Gesundheitssystem, im gesellschaftlichen Diskurs und im öffentlichen Raum. Durch die Verflechtung der klaren, spektralen und inkonsistenten Materialität von 3D Scanning Technologien mit erzählten Geschichten, politischen Aussagen und konzeptuellen Gedanken entfaltet die Ausstellung eine Landschaft räumlicher Narrative. Der Ausstellungsort im Wiener Außenbezirk ermöglichte den Dialog mit geflüchteten Menschen in Wien und mit Menschen, die im Wiener Gesundheitssystem arbeiten. Die Eröffnung der Ausstellung war Teil des Independent Space Index Festivals 2023.

EN Specifically designed for the gallery’s space, the exhibition further developed the GoG project. It attends to the in/visibility of refugees in the healthcare system, societal discourse and public space. Interweaving the lucid, spectral and inconsistent materiality of 3D scanning technologies with spoken stories, political statements and conceptual thoughts, the exhibition unfolds a landscape of spatial narratives. The exhibition venue in a working-class district of Vienna facilitated a dialogue with refugees in Vienna and with people working in the Viennese healthcare system. The exhibition opening was part of the Independet Space Index Festival 2023.

Exhibition ‘Spatial Narratives’

DE Die Installation “Spatial Narratives” zeigte eine hybride Mediengeografie, die die laufende Arbeit der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit GoG entfaltet. Durch die Integration künstlerischer Forschungsmethoden in klassische sozialwissenschaftliche Methoden formte “Spatial Narratives” eine fragmentierte Landschaft aus Erfahrungen, rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen, Räumen und Affekten. Die Installation präsentierte die Ergebnisse des Aufenthalts von Wanda Spahl und Dominic Schwab im mLAB (Frühjahr 2023) am Geographischen Institut der Universität Bern. Die feierliche Eröffnung zog ein großes Publikum an, darunter Studierende, Universitätsangehörige und eine interessierte Öffentlichkeit.

EN The installation ‘Spatial Narratives’ displayed a hybrid media geography that unfolds the work in progress of the interdisciplinary collaboration GoG. Through integrating artistic research methods into classical social science methods ‘Spatial Narratives’ formed a fragmented landscape of experiences, legal frameworks, spaces and affection. The installation displayed the outcome of Wanda Spahl’s and Dominic Schwab’s residency at the mLAB (spring 2023) at the Institute of Geography, University of Bern. The festive opening attracted a large audience, including university students, faculty members, and an engaged public.
